[D4, EA] Lunch to Go (Open/Expecting)

[Shiba Haru]

"Suitengu's yard?" He chortled at that. "That's a new one to me, I've heard that some sailors can have a complicated relationship with Suitengu. but squids and octopi that big sound like a feast in the making. they say a giant fish lives at the bottom of Earthquake Fish Bay, seen anything like that out there?"

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"Oh, we never get t'go anywhere that interestin'. Ship with trainees on it, y'know. But I've seen whales breachin', and that's impressive."

She arched an eyebrow at him.

"What 'bout you? Y'ever see anythin'a note?"

[Shiba Haru]

"Well, aside from the impressive sights I have seen here you mean?" He cocked an eyebrow at her. "I've seen a mother bear the size of two Hida rip a tree out of the ground with one swipe of it's claw because it thought it's cubs were threatened. I've watched my uncle fell a boar that gored two retainers, it fed the village heimen for two days. And I swear I have seen a Yuki no Onna before but Jiro insists I would be dead if I had.

So nothing as big as whale but plenty dangerous.

That bear was not happy we were there."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"A bear?"

She bit her lip.

"That's... some kind big thing, right? Furry?"

[Shiba Haru]

"oh, uh yea they probably don't have those on your islands.

So imagine the largest man you have ever seen covered in a coarse brown hair, very near the point of being sharp but not quite. It has claws like we have fingers but each is as long as your hand and can rip through anything softer than stone. It has large fangs and all it's teeth are long and sharp. On all four legs it's as tall as me if not bigger but when it decides to stand on it's hind legs it towers over every samurai ever to live.

There are small kinds of bears, some are even cute and seem like they could be pets but all of them could kill in an instant. You have to fight them with spears and fire, poke then to death and try to keep out of their reach. They sleep all winter in caves and will do anything to defend their young but otherwise they tend to keep to themselves."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"Huh. Guess th'Crab ain't got the market cornered on monsters."

[Shiba Haru]

"Well thankfully there are less of them and they don't WANT to murder us all but yeah, they are probably the most dangerous big animal on the mainland, maybe a lion depending on who you ask."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"Y'ever see one'a those? A lion, I mean."

[Shiba Haru]

"Once from very far away, the Lion keep them and I think they train them which seems impossible but the Lion don't give up easy. I can tell you they are really hard to spot in the golden grasses of Lion lands, someone had to point the thing out to me and I still struggled to see it. We had to leave though because I guess they are rarely ever alone and if it was that hard to see one there could have been twenty of them.

That said I would defiantly take a bear in a one on one fight with a lion. I'm honestly shocked there is no Bear Clan already, they seem a good choice for symbol."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"Oh, give it time, reckon someone'll do somethin' major before we get 'round t'naming clans after mice or something."

She grinned.

"Hell, maybe you'll do somethin' t'get your own Minor Clan. Always wondered 'bout that, actually. Great Clans tend t'ignore Minor Clans, but bein' Champion of a Minor Clan is stilla step up fer most..."

[Shiba Haru]

"I guess that makes you the future Champion of the Shark Clan."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

She laughed

"Oh, hell no, I'd pick an Octopus! But no, what I was gettin' at was how d'you Great Clan types feel 'bout becomin' part of a Minor Clan, given that it's not seen as a step up most of th'time."

[Shiba Haru]

"Well I can only speak for myself but I wouldn't mind joining any clan "Great" or "Minor" as long as I got along with my spouse. My family doesn't have much in the way of lands or titles or wealth so even joining the Sparrow wouldn't take much of an adjustment where as joining the Mantis would probably mean an increase in those things. Fortunately I don't particularly care about those things either so it really does come down to the spouse."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"Naw, I mean gettin' t'start one, knowin' your grandkids'd be seen as a step down from what they mighta been if you'd stayed put."

[Shiba Haru]

"Oh well in that case it would be a great honor for the Blessed Emperor to award me with such a title and I would hope that any grandchild of mine would have the good sense to appreciate that being heir to a minor clan or even third child to minor clan isn't as bad as some have got it in the empire. And if they don't I would haunt the shit out of them."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"All hail Kuma Haru, Champion of the Bear Clan! Do it or he'll haunt the shit out of you!"

[Shiba Haru]

"All hail Tako Kasumi, breaker of ships and hearts."

He raised his cup in salute.

"Unless you have an interest in bears now?"

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"No, no, sounds like a land-thing, an' I don't think I'm cut out t'fare far from th'sea."

[Shiba Haru]

"Well I guess we will have to save it for special events. Winter Courts and such, think you can handle waiting that long?"

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"C'n you picture me at a Winter Court? 'Oh, no, that's not some heimin who wandered in, that's Yukikaze no Kasumi.'"
