Day 4 [LA] Ride Out With Me (Expecting)

[Suzume Rin]

Mitsuko's smile turns just a little playful, Rin's reaction priceless in her eyes. She squeezes the other girl's hand again, a little longer and slower this time.

"Your hand helps calm me," she says softly, like she's making sure not to scare Rin. "But, um, my heart is pretty loud too..." Mitsuko's eyes look deeply into Rin's and she quietly suggests, "I, uh... could let go." Her face is all happiness as she watches for the Sparrows reaction.

"Awww no, not if it's helping. It's nice...the-the helping. Important to help if everyone's heart is a crashing."
Rin can only hold the eye contact for so long before she looks down, still blushing furiously.

"My ummm....my...ummm."
Rin looks around as if half-expecting a crowd of samurai to have materialized from the edge of the forest
"My heart...might....might also be calmed...if you...ummm..."
Rin stares intently down at the ground.

So, hoping that perhaps what's good for a Kuni is good for a Suzume, Mitsuko catches Rin's other hand and brings them all together, Sparrow hands sheltered by Crab hands. She squeezes gently, then tries to catch the other girl's downcast eyes. Moments later she asks, in a heavy whisper, quiet but firm: "If I do... what?"

Mitsuko bites her lip, really having no idea what to do next, but Rin seems distressed and that's unacceptable to the Crab. So, hoping that perhaps what's good for a Kuni is good for a Suzume, Mitsuko catches Rin's other hand and brings them all together, Sparrow hands sheltered by Crab hands. "Oh...yunno...doing that seems to have done the trick. It's nice when you hold'em like that...sorry if they're a bit dirty...or there's some redbean on 'em. I promise, I usually make sure my hands are clean as before doing anything important, just got taken off guard a little bit."

A mental note is made to carry cleaning utensils in the future.

"Only my folks have ever held my hand...oh and my siblings when they were little so they didn't run off...or if they'd hurt themselves...or they needed someone to take them somewhere. Actually, done a lot of handholding now I think of it, just always with family."
Looking up, her eyes slightly moist.
"So it's a bit different, but I'm enjoying it. Your hands are uhm, pretty warm."

"I'm a Kuni," she says, soft but fierce. "Your hands don't need to be pretty for me. I..." Mitsuko breathes deeply. "I'm enjoying them because they're yours." She takes another deep breath, then admits quietly, "I bet my face is really warm."

Taking a steadying breath
"I bet...that would...be nice."

Rin gently moves her right hand up then pauses.
"Wait. Umm...should I...I mean. I don't wanna read you wrong. But um, my hands are holding your hands. So I should...use something else...to feel how warm your face is?"

"Well that's my fault for taking the hat, you probably got a bit-"

The Kuni grins, squeezing hands together again.

"It was actually just an observation," Mitsuko says honestly. "I don't know how to flirt... Rin-chan," the Crab girl adds, though the way she says the last syllable suggests she's a pretty quick thinker.

"This is...uh. Would you want to maybe just sorta...sit and hold hands and talk for a bit? Figure we can take a little time for ourselves here while we have the afternoon. Umm, and if you want to keep flirting with me... you uh, you should, because it's nice."

She scrunches up her face trying to think of something else flirty

She lets go of Rin's hands, but keeps a light grip on Rin's right hand to gently tug her toward their horses. Making sure greedy Mochi isn't going to start roaming while the girls focus on each other, Mitsuko gets ready to settle in for as long a time as they can justify.
