Day 1 [EA] Brew Back Better (Expecting)

[Suzume Rin]

Rin hums quietly as she rocks backwards and forwards on her feet to the rhythm of the bobtail cat's waves. She'd just missed the previous tour and was now idling about the brewery's entryway waiting for more visitor to arrive to justify one of the master brewers taking a new small group around the brewery proper.

She'd considered buying a bottle for her parents but the price had been wildly exorbitant, to the point where she'd asked the merchant if they'd accidentally put in a couple 0s too many. And the free samples had been avoided. Hardly appropriate to wander around Tsuma drinking.

[Shosuro Yuuko]

Stepping into the entryway a young woman with a noble presence, though perhaps not nobility herself, appraised the entryway with a quick glance. Stopping there she looks to Rin, and then over her shoulder back toward her sister. Focusing back on the other competitor she'd seen before for a few seconds before turning out of the room. Briefly speaking in a hushed tone to someone not yet seen and then finally entering properly.

"Suzume Rin, yes?" she asks, her cadence one that is even and patient.

Stepping into the entryway a young woman with a noble presence, though perhaps not nobility herself, appraised the entryway with a quick glance. Stopping there she looks to Rin, and then over her shoulder back toward her sister. Focusing back on the other competitor she'd seen before for a few seconds before turning out of the room. Briefly speaking in a hushed tone to someone not yet seen and then finally entering properly.

"Suzume Rin, yes?" she asks, her cadence one that is even and patient.

"Hmmm?"
Rin rocks forward and looks back to the door
"Oh! Yeah, that's me Shosuro-sama. Hope I'm not in the way or nothing."
She bows deeply while glancing left and right to make sure she wasn't blocking someone.

[Shosuro Asako]

Shosuro Asako wore her signature frown as she tailed behind her sister. She looked around the place with blank eyes before looking back to the one from the Minor Clan. A short look to her twin, one more-or-less conveying the question on her mind: Why are we speaking with this individual?

With a bow granted, Yuuko naturally returns. Leaving it at that for the moment, Yuuko meets her sisters eye as she joins them, sharing that look. However, Yuuko maintains it for just a little bit longer, one second, two, three. Admonishment, it couldn't have meant anything else.

Returning her attention to Rin she shakes her head, "No, you're not. We were looking for the proprietor. Maybe you are able to be of assistance in locating them?" she says, and though she isn't upfront about it here. Yuuko had informed her sister prior of her suspicion that their father might enjoy a bottle from this place given their distance from home.

This was getting out of hand, now there were two of them.
There's a lot of bobbing as Rin also bows to Asako

"No problem Shosuro-sama, I think they've just gone to show some visitors 'round the brewery."
She motions further back into the building.
"But I'm sure it won't be long now. Then I was gonna do the next round, uh, right after he sees to you two of course, can't be keeping people waiting. Apparently this place uses some special Kōji, so special they don't let anyone else get a sample. I'm looking forward just to seeing it."

Since it had been trained into her mannerisms, Asako at least returned the bow. "Everyone claims that their brew is special," she said, failing to look towards her sister for any... advice. "Time will tell if they have deluded themselves."

"R-right, as you say Shosuro-sama. I uh, hope they ain't too deluded, they seemed nice."
Rin finds a fascinating spot on the floor to stare at.

"Maybe we should go on this walk around the premises with Suzume Rin?" she says, matching her sisters eye for a moment. Looking back to the other competitor she offers a brief dip of her head in apology.

"Your performance earlier was very impressive. I do not suppose it was entirely to the preference of the judge, if my eye is correct. However, the skill presented could hardly be denied. You seem to know precisely the right moment to wait for and not a moment sooner nor later on when to strike."

[Suzume Rin]

"Maybe we should go on this walk around the premises with Suzume Rin?" she says, matching her sisters eye for a moment. Looking back to the other competitor she offers a brief dip of her head in apology.

Rin quickly waves the apology off, clearly a bit embarrassed.
"You're too kind, really. Usually I'm too busy to wait, guess I'm lucky the story was the right length is all."
The brewer appears to be returning from the previous tour, allowing Rin to let out a small sigh of relief
"Oh look, there he is. I'm sure you'd both be mor'thn welcome to join the tour."

[Shosuro Asako]

"If that's what you want to do," she replied to her sister. "Seems like Suzume Rin wants to wait until the owner is able to take us around properly or something of the sort." The more... inflammatory twin glanced back over to the Sparrow with a blank expression then began looking about aimlessly.

It was only when the owner returned did she refocus herself. "I wouldn't expect anyone to voice any complaints about our accompaniment," Asako said with a slight smirk. She looked back over to her sister and smiled even wider before proceeding with the tour.

[Suzume Rin]

The Tōji, a middle aged man with a dour expression bows before the samurai and welcomes them to the brewery. Without much time spent on pleasantries they're lead deeper into the building into a side room where two apprentices appeared to be polishing rice

"It may appear mundane samurai-sama, but the basic milling of the rice grain is one of the most important steps in our process. Lightly milled sake tends to have a more robust flavour and aroma than sake which has had most of its rice milled away. Here we seek a particularly fine taste by polishing our rice until all impurities are scrubbed away."

He indicates a small collection of finely milled rice in the corner as an example.

Rin seems to find all this very interesting and immediately starts asking questions of the two apprentices who do their best to multitask while answering politely.
