For some reason I am irked by duels using the general melee skill. I kinda liked iai as its own thing.
This is also relatively easy to Homebrew if you want to, adding a 'subskill' of Melee (which is basically another skill). It does mean having one more Combat skill, but it... might work.
The difference between Duels and Skirmishes in mechanical terms ends up focused on Meditation vs Tactics as the skill used for Initiative (and initiative is kinda important in duels!), so there is that at least.
But then I said 'enough talk about duels' and I'm talking about duels again XD Sorry!

I guess one of the side-effects of having different strategies in duels is actually that looking at the rules and trying to understand how to do the best thing for your character is more important than it was in 4e.... as a Kakita - probably strike fast!
But that said, I'm fully ready to fail miserably before the duels and not even get to that part of things XD
