"I am from the Isawa Elementalist school and son of a Kitsune shugenja." He smiled. "I visit the forests of the Kitsune from time to time. I found my furry friend there."

[Seppun Urusai]

Urusai nods.

"It is good to pay one's respects to the ancestors," he says, piously. Seppun gonna Seppun, after all. "And I am certain you will both bring glory to your Schools and sensei."

[Kakita Yuji]

Yuji bowed as two Phoenixes joined the table and the Seppun made sure introductions were properly made in the ebb and the flow of the dinn.er

"A pleasure and an honor to meet the both of you." he said at the appropriate time. "I hope that your stay in Tsuma has thus far been pleasant...if a little damp."

[Isawa Kiriko]

"And you two, as well," she replied. "They know that we will choose the best future we are able. Yes for my part... and the damp is okay. The rain has made a nice sound all day."

[Shiba Kuroneko]

Kuroneko chuckled. "My favored element is water so a little shower gracing us is refreshing." He sighed. "But I must admit that the warmth of a friendly fire is welcomed. Seems the night will be a bit cold."

"So in other words, a good night for long conversations with the finest upcoming samurai of the Empire? " he said warmly. "Before Seppun-sama and I were graced with your presence, Isawa-san and Shiba-san, we were talking about a little final project I am working on. I'm trying to gather two poems from each of the competitors in Tsuma. One to reflect their initial impression of Tsuma and the tournament and one to reflect their final impressions. A reflection on the change between the two as the finest of the Empire transition from childhood to adulthood."

He nodded to the Seppun.

"Seppun-sama has generously given me his first poem. Might I humbly solicit a poem from each of you for the project?" he requested.

"It was a pleasure."

[Shiba Kuroneko]

The Shiba brightly smiled. "Poetry, compilation my that sounds very ambitious Kakita san." He gave it some thought. "I do enjoy a poem or two... and yes, a good evening to be around a nice fire sharing stories and poems with new and old friends." Kuroneko nodded. "You can have this one."

She looked curious at the idea. Writing poetry... she'd been so busy with other things she'd never tried it. Now was as good a time as any to start, she supposed.

Kuroneko's brought a smile to her face. "That's such a nice thought, Shiba-san. I like your poem."

She fiddled with her fingers for a moment, trying to sort out how she saw the tournament and how to translate that into words properly. "Ah... I think I have something that works okay..."

Yuji offered a seated bow to the trio.

"Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing the second poem from each of you and seeing how your time in Tsuma has changed you The tournament will certainly offer it's share of challenges to overcome. Is there any particular competition you are all looking forward to beyond the final iaijutsu match?" he asked, seeking to keep the discussion moving over more varied topics

[Seppun Urusai]

"I await all challenges," Urusai says, confidently.

[Shiba Kuroneko]

"I look forward to the poetry competition." He smiled. "The horse riding as well."

[Kakita Ahiru]

Joining the table at the direction of an attendant, Ahiru bows respectfully to those gathered. "Please excuse my intrusion," she murmured in a polite tone, raising her sleeve a little to be a bit more demure in her apologies for intruding upon a conversation already well underway.

The Crane maiden, bearing the mon of the Kakita over her heart, was dressed in many layers of fine silk. The many-layered ensemble worked well for the spring season - warm pink to green to the last outer layer of frosty blue. Like a budding spring flower fighting against the last hold of winter.

"I am Kakita Ahiru, it's an honor to be here with so many illustrious guests."

Kuroneko stood up allowing the Kakita take a seat and giving her a bow. "Ah... good timing Kakita sama... we are discussing which event we are looking forward." He took a seat after the girl had taken a seat.

[Kakita Yuji]

Yuji tried to place the Crane joining the table. She wasn't in any of his classes, but he was sure he had seen her face about Tsuma. Something about the sea.....

Ah, Lady Sea Sparrow! he recalled one of his friends dubbing her. Which was not a nickname to share with her, but it brought her circumstances to mind.

He rose and bowed to his fellow Kakita.

"Kakita-sama, your arrival was heralded by a dip in the conversation as if it were the scripted entrance of the star of the scene. Please, be welcome and join us in this evening of new meetings between the finest future samurai of this generation." he said, keeping his tone inviting.

"If you have not met them yet, at this table we have Seppun Urusai of Kyuden Seppun, Isawa Kiriko and Shiba Kuroneko of the Phoenix, and I am Kakita Yuji. It is a pleasure to share this gathering with you."

[Kakita Ahiru]

A bow of her head was given to each in turn as Yuji made the introductions, a touch more deeply for the Imperial son of course. "Thank you for the introductions, and such kind words." She seemed very happy with meeting everyone.

"I always look forward to seeing the iaijutsu tournament at the end. So many skilled warriors put to the test in front of the eyes of so many important samurai, each one potentially considered for greatness until there is one victor," she said with some girlish excitement.

"But as for the test I look the most forward too... the Test of Mind, perhaps? It will be interesting to see how the judges will challenge our wit and intellect."

[Kakita Yuji]

Yuji considered the question.

"Well, traditionally, it's a series of questions about culture, etiquette, government, and theology. Topics to make sure that we were paying attention to our senseis beyond how best to stab our enemies." he says with a bit of a grin.

"I was reading over a record of the questions asked in the year.....754 I believe, it the table would care for a little intellectual warm up to see how we would have faired if our gempukku was a few centuries ago." he offered.

[Isawa Kiriko]

Hmm... the conversation had moved forward, but she should still answer the question, right. "I suppose like Seppun-sama, I am also looking forward to all the tests. Each outcome is another person's story forming its shape and direction."

[Seppun Urusai]

Urusai nods, both to Kiriko and to the flowing conversation, his player having been away.

"I'm game," he says to the latter.

[Shiba Kuroneko]

"I suppose that those experiences are what Kakita Yuji san want to collect with his compilation." He nodded toward the Kakita. "Each day is an experience and each time we experience something we change we follow the flow of life and light up the spark of wisdom."
