"We're going to have to have the heroine of the story defeat the cook," he says with a chuckle. "A difficult fight undoubtedly."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"Crossed ladles on th'after-deck at sunrise."

[Shiba Jiro]

"Duel to first spill. Loser cleans the kitchens... forever."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"Just so somebody cleans it, that'd be a nice change..."

[Shiba Jiro]

"Give it a good, thorough scrubbing. So clean you could eat off the floors. Not that the cook didn't just toss food from the floor into the pot anyway?"

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"With no witnesses, who c'n say? 'Leastways we can be sure there's no rats in it, since th'smell does t'keep 'em clear'a th' galley."

[Shiba Jiro]

"That bad, eh? Smells like cook's dirty laundry because he washes it in the cook pots?"

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"That might improve it, actu'lly. Give it a bitta texture."

[Shiba Jiro]

"Wow, the cook is that bad? Send him to me for lessons. I don't want you surviving on such horrors," he says, with a shake of his head. "I will teach him the proper way to steam buns and wash hakama. Separately."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"So you enjoy a challenge, I see..."

[Shiba Jiro]

"Like I said before, I want to be a teacher. Even if I get problematic students," he says with a chuckle.

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"You'd have to become the Fortune'a Perseverance. Trust me."

[Shiba Jiro]

"Maybe that is what would get me elevated. Emperor hears about the person teaching the ship's cook how to not make everyone upset. A heroic undertaking."

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"Be a tall order."

She paused.

"An' then th'crew'd have t'find somethin' new t'bitch about!"

[Shiba Jiro]

"That's an easy one. Just bitch about the work. Backbreaking work all day long," he says with a chuckle.

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"Oh, s'one thing we never bitch 'bout- officers'll tolerate a fair bit, but whinin' 'bout your duties is a good way t'get worse ones."

[Shiba Jiro]

"Oh? That seems like a dangerous route then. Maybe complain about the sleeping arrangements? 'I want a heavier blanket, I don't want to be in a hammock, there's nobody to keep me warm at night.'"

[Yukikaze no Kasumi]

"Oh, aye, that's a good'un. 'Specially with space at a premium."

She frowned.

"Though I gotta say, dunno what I'd do without m'hammock..."
