Thank you for the esoteric study scene and a glimpse at just how different our kids' areas of study here are across the board.

Being Scorpion, I always do want to ask if there were agendas beyond the basic 'go do a Topaz?' Were there characters whose secrets you had an eye on?

A curveball is a surprise right? Sport metaphors are like a twelve point corner strike to me.

Not sure is the term is appropriate but I struggled all game trying to give a more "teen" feeling to Kaoru to no avail. I actually changed character concept at the last minute because I felt the old one didn't feel "teen" enough but the new one (Kaoru) didn't fare much better on that front. Unsure about the exact reasons behind such a roadblock, but one lead is simply that I haven't read a Young Adult novel in a long time, and imitation is the base of good writing.

The main surprise storywise was that the championship went as expected instead of being interrupted by a greater plot.

According to my tracking thread, I have a great total of six scenes that played out from beginning to end, and maybe twice that that were meaty enough to be relevant. I honestly don't know how I ended up with 300+ messages. Shitposting a lot? In all cases wrong management of my energy that ended up squandered all around instead of making the engines run.

My favorites were maybe the one with Jiro/Urusai/Natsuko due to having a relatively strong central theme most others were missing.

Kaoru is obviously of the spy archetype but more of the kind looking for skeletons in accounting books than in closets.

As I described her somewhere OOC "the kind of gal that was disappointed Way of the Merchant wasn't really about economical manipulation but instead digressed on boring assassins".

I think Aihru had some financial issues that might have matched, but our characters never truly interacted inn a meaningful way because IRL-no-oni. But in general turns out, despite all these ronin and Mantis around, people aren't that interested into discussing the complex socio-politico-economical consequences of tsunami.
