Future pirate princess! It was a joy to write with you, as always. The dynamic with these two was great fun, and I'd like to see them grow a bit, together!

What are some possible directions you see Ahiru going in the future?

I know her backstory, but I think you should share a bit of it for everyone else!

Seconding the backstory question. I was piecing together bits from threads about how the betrothal came about.

Not a lot of interaction for us this go around, but I enjoyed the bit there was. Besides the Mantis, did Ahiru find herself shifting or solidifying opinions of any other clans throughout the tournament?

How true were those Whispers of Poverty?

The system and simply not having much time to post (and if I had time, it was a matter of energy to muster the writing). Not a fan of the 5e system as it seems pointlessly complicated where it doesn't need to be complicated.

That Ahiru felt more like being a Mantis than a Crane in the end. At the start it was much more "alright now we're going to make Hirame want to become a Crane!"... and then I just liked the potential story of her becoming Mantis better. It also worked out since Hirame won their wager.

Not being as active as I usually am!

Gosh, hm... I didn't have many scenes this game, but I really did like all the scenes I got to have with Hirame. And Ahiru+Kasumi playing pranks on him. xD

Not much interaction sadly, but I did get to read a lot more than I was posting, so I enjoyed seeing Jiro's drama. Very teen. Much complicated feels.

I also didn't expect Ahiru and Hirame to work out so well. It quickly could've been a bitter betrothal to contrast the dysfunctional one!

Aww thank you! I enjoyed reading Sakura's scenes too, especially her manner of speech I enjoyed.

I was just too exhausted to go chasing scenes or make a lot of popups this game. Hopefully next game!

Wait... you're a Pirate King! It's unfair that I only get to be a princess then!

I see Ahiru being a lot more ambitious in the future, and less focused on being the perfect daughter that her parents were hoping for her to be. I guess that makes her a good Mantis?

How true were those Whispers of Poverty?

The bulletpoint version of the background (Hirame posted his version):
- Crane (more specifically Ahiru's family) were aware of Hirame's family having some Imperial blood in their line. So in true Crane fashion they were like "let's bring it into a more respectable clan".
- Ahiru's older sister was set to marry Hirame's older brother. Her family splurged on expenses to impress the Mantis with their ship (pimp my kobune)... ship was then lost at sea with bride, groom, and all the wealth. No ship or bodies found!
- Both sides were still thinking "this is a good match, and we have some younger spares!" so when Ahiru/Hirame were coming of age they could carry on with this arrangement.

All this started from a couple of things:
- Hirame's player and me always try to think of new ways to interact and new dynamics to have between our characters since we play a lot together. So this time we both agreed to trying out the angle of two young folks betrothed to eachother meeting for the first time, and to see how things would go from there.
- Me rolling my Heritage: Glorious Sacrifice... which then ended up as a kobune. This alone made me go back and redo parts of Ahiru's character sheet to better fit this stupid result (it is gloriously stupid the type of things you can have on this result).
- We noticed that our characters had equal status at the start of the game, so it made sense that it hadn't been finalised yet who would join which clan with the marriage. I had the idea for suggesting making it a personal wager between them IC as we could figure things out OOC.

Regarding opinions on other clans... I'd say it was a mixed bag? She didn't change much opinion on the Crab (little to no interaction, and not standing out in general), she thought Jun was kinda dreamy but I don't think she thought much about the Dragon overall. Lion... she liked Aya and was impressed with Masaru? But I think she considers them more exception to the norm of what Lion are like. She ended up liking Mantis more than she thought she would, even if their fashion senses are terrible. More or less remained the same on all other clans and factions.

As for Whispers of Poverty... yes and no? Her family *did* lose some wealth at sea, as they had invested heavily into that marriage, and while they could recoup losses with Ahiru's marriage (and the arrangements there) it had to wait for her to be of marrying age and all that. But it wasn't like they had become impoverished or anything. xD Still rich Kuge but now with a temporarily setback!

The lost kobune really is a glorious thing to have at random. XD

Heritage-table as a strong part of character creation is something I'm glad to see returned. I always liked those in older editions.
