When do you think you will be up to GMing another game in this sequence? And what themes are you pondering for it?

I've been thinking on this for awhile.

I've scrapped my original idea for Game 2, since that game would have been more slice of life every one in Otosan Uchi.

But the game would have existed only to frame an important cutscene, and I don't think I had a strong enough story to support it for the PCs.

So that cutscene will be written as post game fiction.

And Game 2 will be a Court Game.

The theme - Kuwanan v. Hotaru, or - will the PCs prevent the Crane Civil War.

I have the rough outline done. If I go balls to the wall, in a year. Realistically, in 2023.

What was the outcome for the shrines if we'd all looked at it and shrugged (unlikely...but...)?

Sotorii's haunting is a nice touch on a bit of canon that had a lot of possible explanations with none settled upon in canon.

Tsuma was spiritually dying. Without the tax revenue going to help fund the support of the shrine, people were ignoring it in general. And so the local spirits were leaving.

Had it been ignored, Saito would have died the day of the Iai finals. The shrine would feel barren.

The issues weren't caused by not caring, but because the governor was pressed to make sure that what happened in 1121 never happened again. So money had to be funneled to the Laughing Carp, and further infrastructure in Tsuma.

I see. So I can basically blame the Mantis as the public cause. (iirc the kerfluffle was a Scorpion thing to embarrass them...and it apparently worked! But that's not exactly known)
