It had been....a rather calm day for Yuji. Unsurprising given the the tone of the day's event. And everything seemed to be in order for the party tomorrow, so Yuji opted to take a stroll through the gardens before turning in. The stars were nicely visible tonight, and so he would take the moment to gaze upon them and reflect.

Sitting on a near by rock, Shiba Kuroneko looked at the stars. He had missed the main event for the tournament this day to create his piece of written artistry. It was now his time to look up and wonder about the future and what it will bring.

The Phoenix's absence at the event was well noted by the Crane. So he was glad to see them seemingly well at least. Not ill or sent home in disgrace.
"Good evening, Shiba-san." he said with a bow. "A pleasant night to look at the stars, ne?"

"Wide eye lord watching/ Struggles in dark reality/ Wind stirs emotions." The Shiba answered back. "I hope Inari has blessed you this day, Kakita san."

Yuji nodded considering the poem.
"Infinite darkness.
Thousands of little lights guide
dawn. Radiant smile."
he replied in return, thinking of all the little inspirations cast upon the seemingly endless dark, which would in fact, end.
"Inari has, Shiba-san Have the fortunes watched over you today as well?"

He nodded. "I have been blessed. Sadahiko has given me inspiration to work on a play that I plan to give to the lord tomorrow." Tori came out to lay on the Shiba's lap. "How was your day?"

Yuji smiled.
"Rather pleasant," he offered. "A day of tea and art. Sadahako was busy today."
He sat down, looking up at the stars.
\"Congratulations on finding the inspiration for your play. Might I ask what it is about?"

"Ah... yes... It is about a princess that escapes her tyrannical father." The Shiba looked at the stars as well. "I hope he enjoys it."

Yuji looked at the stars, apparently faced with another samurai riddled with self-doubt.
"Well....hopefully. It is hard to know a potential audience's reaction when creating art. Nor is the artist themselves a particular fair judge of their own work I find." he admitted. "But if you found at least a small measure of joy in the process of creation, I think the Empire is better for the work, regardless of reaction."

"I felt lonely at first, and then I think Sadahiko no kami blessed me... and fortunes, it became so much fun." The Shiba smiled. "In my time here, only 2 other things that have brought me such joy, capturing a squirrel and the restitution of the temple."

Given that Yuji didn't want to really talk about the shrine even more he pivoted to the squirrel.
"Oh, you went hunting for a squirrel, Shiba-san? The woods are fairly rich with game." he asked.

"Hai... so they seem. I have it in my room inside a basket where it can be kept warm and toasty." Kuroneko nodded. "I have seen some hares and I think some quails as well."

Yuji looked impressed.
"Ah, but not quite as large a collection of animals as Shinjo-san?" he inquired, not certain if the two had met.

"Not quite she seems to be better attuned with the animals than me... It has been a while since we talked." He chuckled "Thank you for reminding me."

Yuji smiled a bit.
"Well, it's hard to forget your first Unicorn chasing a monkey through a garden, you know?" he offered.
