Pre-emptive answer if you do not use the approach associated with the disadvantage, the disadvantage does not apply

Same approach required for all three rolls? (that seems the intent, but checking!)
Disadvantage triggers once on one roll. Same for applicable Advantages?

1 - Not required. Some judges may have a different favored approach per step. Some will have just one favored approach.
2 - You are allowed multiple advantages per event, 1 roll per advantage.

Opportunity on failed rolls do nothing but add to the possible Tiebreaker?

Correct

Thanks.
Also, I probably should have asked this earlier, but for Step 2: Showboating, would the Doji Diplomat school technique apply? I'm not sure if it would, but since it's rather vague on "influence someone", I figured I'd ask.
School Technique: Speaking In Silence - Once per scene when making a check to persuade or influence someone, you may add a number of kept Ring Dice set to an Opportunity result equal to your School Rank.

I can see an argument as to why it would apply to step 2. It would.

Clarification on "+1 Body Point for using Hida Hikaru's favored approach, if successful on the initial roll": does this mean that only Step One of the event has a favored approach in effect?

I will allow Opportunity spends to reduce strife damage to composure, as per the normal spends (1 opp for 1 strife), but it will not reduce either for purposes of tiebreakers.
I don't want to do that much book keeping

Considering the 1st step leads to the second, can you continue to further if failing that roll in the first place?

Yes. Basically you fumble the throw, but aren't locked out of the event.

Step 2 of the event wrote:
- It isn't enough to just be physically capable of throwing the ball in the air. One must put on a show, to showcase their strength of spirit in demonstrating their physical proess. This is a TN 2 Performance Check.
I know it wasn't listed, but I kinda could see the
Lackluster adversity applying here too if using a Fire approach. Should one simply not worry about it since you haven't listed it, or would it also activate?
Asking for a friend...
EDIT: Another question that may be helpful for more people
Does step 3 (hitting the ball) count as an Attack action? Or any type of action for that matter? Guessing not, but as some techniques and school abilities key off that, I though it might be worth asking

Lackluster will apply. I missed that in my combing through sheets.
And Step 3 will count as an
Attack action for the purposes of techniques. Step 1 will count as a
Movement action for the purposes of techniques.

Follow up: Step 2 will count as a Scheme action for purposes of techs.

Just to be clear, from the scoring criteria:
"+1 Body Point for every 2 successes after the first"
Does that actually mean "for every 2 successes after [what's required for a basic success]"? Because that would mean it takes 4 successes to get an extra point, not 3.

Would the Dangerous Allure distinction apply to the performance part of the challenge? Only if using the Fire Ring perhaps?

+1 Event Point per roll.
Wait, so if we guess the correct ring and there are three rolls that's a +3 to your end score?
