"Ah, indeed. I have had relatives visit the gardens of Shiro Shiba. Which flowers are going to be most popular in court this year is always a hot topic of discussion among a few of them." he offers.

"Or hubris depending." he agrees. "They are, after all, the second finest in the Empire, just after the Imperial gardens in the capital."

Because no one was allowed to be bigger or better than the Emperor.

"Hmm, most likely, and certainly perfected it." he admitted. "The Kami brought the tradition of writing, so most lore of the time before the kami has been lost. There are certainly stories, poetry, and art from that time, but given that the people had literal gods walking among them, their focus tended to be on them, not what came before."

"Hard to imagine, ne? That so many centuries ago, had we been alive, we could have had tea with Lady Doji, or sparred with Lord Akodo."
