The stands are set up about the piste, allowing people to watch any of the duels they choose. The Emperor himself seems to have chosen this match to be the one to watch initially. He sits with the Imperial Host and his retinue, yet his gaze falls upon this duel most intently.
The rest of the Imperial Host is in a position where they could watch any of the duels from any vantage point.

After her duel, the Lion passed by where his imperial highness had watched the duel. She stopped and bowed low for several heartbeats, her neck well presented to her liege, the Emperor of Rokugan. She held her spirit still, demanded her body obey in kind.
She could be dismissed, but it was important to Michi that she show her respect. She may never have another chance, and regret was for sinners.

Upon seeing the fierce Akodo Commander bowing low, the Emperor gave the slightest of nods of his head, acknowledging her.

Jun had adopted a similar pose (albeit with his elbow tucked in awkwardly close to his body to avoid as much movement on that side of his torso as possible).

He then bows much more deeply to the stands where a certain divine personage is seated, watching the two of them.
