[D1, EE, Library] A learning experience

The skinny Crab girl in steel gray training clothes was an odd sight entering the academy library, but her curiosity had gotten the better of her as she was passing by on her way to the training grounds. She'd cast a longing look to where she knew she should be training, then entered the large library and been momentarily stopped in awe.
Damn Crane, thing everything fancy.
The small pack she'd brought with her is gently set on an empty table as her eyes continue to take in the scroll racks, book shelves and other furnishings. Face paint or no, Mitsuko's eyes make clear she's impressed and a little overwhelmed.

"Behave." the Shinjo whispered to the monkey with her. She held him in her arms, keeping him from running off. "Let's see. They should have maps here somewhere..."

Overhearing the command to behave, Mitsuko spins with a scowl on her face.
"How--" she begins angrily, and then she's looking at another girl holding a monkey. In a library. And the Kuni slams to a halt, feeling uncertain what to do with this situation.
"Um. I didn't read anything about dealing with monkeys." A heart beat later she realizes, Brilliant words, Mitsuko, thanks. The look on her face, despite the heavy Kuni makeup, is clearly confusion.

"Neither did I." Jingyi shrugged. "Are there texts about that?"

The Unicorns words don't really aid Mitsuko's confusion, but they are... calming? In a way.
"Um. Well, in a big library like this, I would hope so. Er, um, something... More flattering to our hosts," she says hurriedly. "Um, let's start over. I'm Kuni Mitsuko, honored daughter of... I mean," she says, forcing herself to focus, "daughter of Kuni Etsumiko and Kuni Adorai and honored student of the Hida Battle Leader dojo." She bobs her head, approving of her correction and apparently considering that a sufficient bow.

"Oh, um." she bowed respectfully. "I am Jingyi, daughter of Shinjo Zhāng Wěi and Shinjo Kanako, of Egami Mura and student of the Shinjo Outriders and animal trainers. It is an honor to meet you. I was actually hoping to find maps."

"Ah, well surely there will be plenty of those," Mitsuko says confidently. "Maps of anything, er, anywhere in particular? Perhaps I'll help you look for maps and you'll help me find the genealogy section?" The skinny Kuni seems more comfortable now that conversation is turning to research.

"Anything." she nodded. "I want to learn more about these lands, but I'm interested in any place new, really. I'd be happy to help you, if I can."

"Very well. The risk of us getting lost can't be very high, so what if you go that way," she says, pointing at an angle past Jingyi's shoulder, "and I'll look over this way... And we'll meet back here in 5 minutes?" The Kuni means it as just a suggestion, but her voice is practiced at command and being persuasive and so the young Shinjo might be feeling commanded.

"Of course, Kuni-sama." she agreed. "We will see you soon."
She nodded and turned to explore the library.

The Crab disappears in the direction she'd indicated, wandering through shelves and racks and overall mostly getting lost, though she keeps a focus on her 'escape route,' unable to countenance the Unicorn needing to find her.
When she returns to their meeting spot, Mitsuko probably looks more haggard than is really acceptable for exploring a library, her face, even through makeup, revealing she's impressed here.

"There's so much here." Jingyi said as she returned. "Who would have the time to read all of this?"

"I think it's like the Kuni libraries," Mitsuko says, shaking her head. "Part of it is just about having so much knowledge that you can show off..."

"I've known a few people like that." she frowned. "I didn't find any scrolls regarding genealogy, did you?"

"I didn't, which is just silly," the Crab girl grumbles. "They must be some where. Oh, but I think I saw maps - at least some - in that second bank of scroll racks over there," she says, gesturing off to one side of the route she'd followed through the near part of the library.

"I am sure they are here. Unfortunately, I don't have much familiarity with library organization>" she admitted. "I'd be happy to help you keep looking."
